Rumor: iPad HD with Retina Display and Pro apps this Fall

By | July 7, 2011, 11:43am PDT

Summary: Apple may release an updated iPad with a high-resolution screen targeting professionals this fall. The iPad HD will be a complementary model to the iPad 2, but with better specs.

This is my next reports that Apple may release an updated iPad with a high-resolution screen targeting professionals this fall. Dubbed the iPad HD, the new tablet isn’t the iPad 3, but rather a complementary model to the iPad 2 with better specs — and undoubtedly a higher price point too.

Our sources are saying that not only will there be a newly designed iPhone coming in the fall, but there is going to be a new entry into the iPad family as well. As hard as it might be to believe, the new tablet is said to sport a double resolution screen (2048 x 1536), and will be dubbed the “iPad HD.” The idea behind the product is apparently that it will be a “pro” device aimed at a higher end market — folks who work in video and photo production possibly — and will be introduced alongside something like an iPad version of Final Cut or Aperture. This product is specifically said tonot be the iPad 3, rather a complimentary piece of the iPad 2 line. Think MacBook and MacBook Pro.

Assuming the existing price points, where do you think that Apple lands on the iPad HD? Given the component costs of high-resolution panels I’m thinking that this could be Apple’s first $1k tablet.

What i unearth problematic must be to identify a online site that may seize nfljerseys me to acquire a minute but your weblog web site differs. Bravo.
That's interesting considering apple just made their beta program http://adf.ly/21TOf open to the public.
@jen364 hey, how do you get invited?

And, of course Apple will release 2048x1536 iPad -- it was clear even last year. However, the question is when.

...an iPad that will run "Pro" apps like FCP and Apeture?? looks like there is a "New Pro"
I would upgrade my iPad 2 if that were possible. Hmmm.
@Mosblest Amen to that! I already told my wife that she gets my iPad 2 as soon as a fully HD-capable iPad appears. In fact, I would be happy with "only" 1920x1080 resolution. The 2k x 1.5k seems like overkill, but I'd take it. The second big improvement I hope to see on this "pro" model is a much better set of built-in cameras. All of the bad reviews of the iPad cameras are definitely _not_ exaggerating the level of crap they installed in it. If it has better resolution and better cameras, I'd jump on that new iPad HD model at introduction.
@BillDem
if photography is your main reason, why don't you use a real camera of any quality and upload it to the ipad?
That's that I do, I plug in the SD card an upload it, or use the USB cable.
Only reason I'd use an ipad camera is for Augmented Reality or read barcodes.
How do you flag a flagger? I don't see anything here that deserves to be flagged. I have seen this flagging in other posts here that almost everything got flagged.
@Serton If you click on the link it's affiliate spam + Adfly. Pretty clever spammer - twice the opportunity to make money.

Not sure why the second is flagged. No reason for it.

Why do people beleive this ****.

2048x1536 on a 10" display - are you barking mad. fullHD on a 13@ panel is about as much as you can realistically get just now - New Vaio Z, and they aren;t cheap.

The LCD yeild will be attrocious.

iPad 2 HD - perhaps in 4 years.

1080p in a 19x9 size format is a possibility, but unlikely with stuff Jobs has said. Most woukld want a step-change in bettery life.
