When Mac owners move into Windows virtualization, they should be responsible and that means running PC security. Making this task a one-click purchase, Symantec this week released a Norton AntiVirus package covering both Mac and Windows platforms.

The $69.95 package includes Norton AntiVirus 11 for Mac and Norton AntiVirus 2008 for Windows. The bundle comes with a year subscription to its patch service.

This product includes both vulnerability protection — which is new to Norton AntiVirus for Mac — and intrusion protection — included in Norton AntiVirus 2008 for Windows. These layers of protection prevent threats from infecting systems by blocking malware and viruses from installing when downloading pictures, music and software, and then deleting the threat.

Norton AntiVirus Dual Protection for Mac also includes performance and engine improvements to ensure better compatibility and less impact on system startup and resource usage, so users can safely continue their online activities without impacting their productivity.

For all this newness, the product has yet to hit the company's product comparison grid yet.
