This Ars Technica article runs down the long list of symbols and numbers. It's interesting reading.

This only covers the iPhone that is authorized to operate in the US, Canada, and Europe. iPhones manufactured for distribution in other countries may have a completely different set of certifications printed on them (some devices, like the Kindle, slap every regulatory stamp they get on the back so they have one version that can ship anywhere). All the rest of the iPhone's compliance medals that we didn't discuss here can be viewed in the device's Settings menu (General > About > Regulatory), along with the names of the countries that use them.

  • Dave, did you get paid for this blog??

I mean "COME ON!!" 2 sentences and a link which basically say "HEY EVERYONE!! I found some cool info on the web. Here's a link!!" At least take the time to post an example from your own phone or SOMETHING!!

It means that all Apple's products are proudly made at the lowest possible cost in Chinese slave labor camps so that Apple can make the largest profit possible while all the US buyers and workers are being stiffed!
And, we can't forget the shareholders who are not receiving any dividends!
According to its latest earnings release, Apple (AAPL) is now sitting on $59.7 billion in cash. With approximately 921 million shares outstanding, that now represents $64.83 per share

@az-heat@... Really, that's the best you have got? Just to point out a few issues with your post.

      1. The Chinese employees that build Apple products have better live conditions and make more many than the average person in China.

      2. To use the example in the quoted portion of the article, how is Apple making more profit having multiple versions versus like they do with the Kindle by having one version that ships to every country?

      3. Do you really think the share holders would be happy to get $64.83 per share dividend depleting Apples cash reserve, lowering their buying power and drastically reducing the value of the shares? Are you really that clueless?

These "hey lets say something about the iPhone" articles are getting more hilarious. Its like the tech bloggers just want to keep the thing in the news as much as possible to drive up the stock they own. I mean seriously...an article to explain the symbols on the back of the phone and then another article to link to the first and just add a couple of sentences. I mean hell why not just write articles to show everyone the fingerprint smudge patterns you make on your iPhone.
