Adobe buys Day Software for $240 million; Bolsters enterprise lineup

Summary: Adobe has acquired Day Software, which makes enterprise content management software, for $240 million.

Adobe said Wednesday that it has acquired Day Software, which makes enterprise content management software, for $240 million.

The acquisition of Day, based in Switzerland, is designed to bolster Adobe’s enterprise lineup, according to Adobe. Adobe will combine Day’s software with its Web content, digital asset management and social collaboration tools.

Meanwhile, Day gives Adobe another avenue to spread its Flash, Flex and LiveCycle tools in the enterprise.

Once the deal is closed, Day will be lumped into Adobe’s enterprise software business unit. Day CEO Erik Hansen will report to Rob Tarkoff, senior vice president and general manager of Adobe’s digital enterprise group.

The Day purchase, which will add to earnings in fiscal 2011, is expected to close in Adobe’s fourth quarter.
