SHARE:

Akamai has introduced a new application acceleration solution designed to help enterprise customers address issues with business applications while simplifying the process of uploading those apps to the public cloud.

Terra Alta was especially designed to address complexities surrounding latency, availability, security and application control that can adversely impact web application performance.

Akamai touts that Terra Alta can be deployed within a company's existing network architecture so that IT departments don't have to spend more money or waste previous equipment investments and upgrades. IT decision makers have several buying and configuration options, including a quick deploy method for multiple applications or the choice to buy sets of application slots that can be interchanged as dictated by business requirements.

Along with the public cloud challenges, Terra Alta was also customized to handle the growing mobile enterprise user base.

Terra Alta builds upon Akamai's Intelligent Platform for Internet-based apps, and the solution extends some existing features for balancing and managing apps over virtual machines and data centers. Furthermore, some new features include reduced bandwidth consumption for application delivery, conditionally dynamic page caching, and instant page retrieval based on analytical data.

Terra Alta is available now with packages supporting sets of three, five and 10 applications.
