Amazon inked a content licensing deal with Fox to bolster its streaming content library.
The deal comes as Netflix is looking to land more content deals as it focuses primarily on streaming content.
Amazon said its Prime service will now have more than 11,000 movies and TV shows this fall.
It’s becoming increasingly obvious that Amazon is gunning for Netflix and the timing seems about right. Netflix is struggling with customer backlash over privacy changes as well as a decision to separate its DVD by mail business, which is now called Quikster.
TV shows and movies included in the Amazon-Fox deal are the “X-Files, 24, “Arrested Development” and “Speed,” “Mrs. Doubtfire” and “Doctor Dolittle.”
