Amazon Web Services on Thursday rolled out two new premium support tiers and cut prices on existing plans by 50 percent.

The changes break down like this:

  • Amazon launched a new "bronze" premium support tier. This tier provides business day technical support with response times ranging from 12 hours to one business day. The bronze plan is $49 a month.
  • A silver premium support plan offers business day support with response time of four hours for high severity issues. The pricing is $100 per month or 5 percent of monthly usage, whichever is higher.
  • The gold plan includes what's in the silver support offering, but adds around-the-clock support and one hour response times for urgent items. The pricing: $400 a month or 5 percent to 10 percent of total monthly usage.
  • Amazon Web Services also added a platinum plan that offers a 15 minute response time and an account manager that is assigned to the customer and serves as primary contact. Pricing: $15,000 a month or 10 percent of monthly usage.

The company said that it added two bookends to its premium support tiers so it can address customers ranging from independent developers and startups to large enterprises.
