Apple has extended MobileMe subscriptions for 30 days following a launch that was "a lot rockier" than the company expected.
On July 9, MobileMe, the replacement for .Mac accounts, had a rocky start. As a result, Apple said in an FAQ that it is "extending subscriptions by 30 days to customers free of charge to express our appreciation for their patience during the transition period."
Folks eligible for the extension are .Mac members who had an active account as of July 9 and any new MobileMe customer that created an account on or before July 15 at 7 p.m. PDT.Apple in its FAQ also addresses renewals and other MobileMe odds and ends.

Fabulous...
Or maybe it'll all fizzle out like it did when Leopard was released as a mess.
Apple - it just works. Or not.

"gotchas" not anticipated. Though in the end it's working,
still some folks complain just to be complaining. Makes
them feel important?the more they complain the more
important they think they are.
Yes there are some issues with iWeb, Homepage and the
like, those issues will be resolved. As with other folks I'm inconvenienced as well however, the world still is spinning. Long ago I quit taking these things as a life or death issue,
they're not. In the end we'll all take the eternal dirt nap, so at best in life this issue is a inconvenience.
The desktop apps iCal, Address book, and Mail performed
well, it was the web based apps having issues. Contacted
my clients explained the issue, yes it concerned them but,
they also understood there wasn't anything any of us could
do. Not one became pissy-eyed.
If you insist RicD
As for the transistion/migration to mobileme. It was a joke. Apple really dropped the ball on this one.
If I pay for a service I expect that service, not something that creaks and crawls, if it works at all. People complained because they could no longer access the service they paid for and because nobody had a clue what was happening. I can't help but think that if Apple had been honest about the problem from the start, then people would have at least known the problem was being dealt with and probably not have complained (my support call to Apple asking for assistance in accessing my iDisk was replied to with the helpful advice that I should empty my Internet cache).
I'm a Mac fan but is there a hint of arrogance creeping into Apple's world.
Thanks for your reply...
nothing one can do about a situation, completely out of
their control, it doesn't help to complain. For all concerned
this migration was frustrating, nothing wrong being
frustrated. Would complaining make them work faster,
more diligently? Complaining and being pissy-eyed
wouldn't fixed it faster?build a bridge, get over it.

Okay, where were they dishonest; did Apple directly lie to
you? To think Apple wasn't aware, wasn't addressing the
issue is ludicrous, did they actually have to tell you with an
engraved invitation they're addressing it? They knew they
were in deep-poop so did all of us as well. Also they may
not have known exactly what all the issue were, only that
there were issues. Gosh, stand back let them get at it.
Did it take too long, perhaps. However, we don't know
issues they ran into, and, neither my knowing would solve
anything nor fix it. Again we all knew there were major
issues also that they'd fix them.
Maybe Apple could have handled it differently?post
something on their site?perhaps however, unexpected
issues with the migration was painfully obvious to a blind
person. Do you expect the D.O.T. to run up to all cars
stuck in traffic telling them "ahead is a backup until it's
cleared nothing you can do about it, no reason to stroke
out over it".
All the above applies to all vendors. True, I may become
frustrated but, complaining is a waste of my time.
As of yesterday my MobileMe is working properly plus
Apple gave us all thirty days extended MobileMe. I'm okay
with that.
I'm not saying your perspective is wrong. It's that I see it
differently, in the scheme of things certainly it's not a big
deal. Didn't loose sleep over it, family is healthy, Earth is
spinning, awoke today, many positive things to look
forward to, life is good.
Again thank you for your reply. Have a pleasant day.
