AppSense raises $70 million from Goldman Sachs

AppSense raised $70 million in funding from Goldman Sachs as the company looks to expand its virtualization footprint.

The company specializes in so-called “user virtualization” software that allows custom experiences in desktop virtualization deployments.

According to AppSense, it will use the funds to grow. Pete Perrone, managing director of Goldman Sachs, will join the AppSense board of directors.

AppSense has more than 4,000 customers including ESPN, JP Morgan Chase and United Airlines. In 2010, it sold 1.5 million user licenses.
