Autonomy said Wednesday that it will acquire CA Technologies information governance unit.
Terms weren’t disclosed, but Autonomy said that the acquisition will bolster its enterprise search with e-discovery, archiving and record management. Autonomy got its start as an enterprise search outfit, but expanded its offerings into content management with the 2009 purchase of Interwoven for $775 million.
Among the assets Autonomy acquired from CA:
- CA Records Manager, which focus physical records management;
- CA Message Manager, which ensures messages adhere to corporate and regulatory requirements;
- Employees from CA Technologies information governance unit.
Autonomy added in a statement that the goal of the deal is to offer a complete information management and governance suite and better target the legal, regulatory and investigative markets.
The purchase, expected to close in the third quarter, won’t have a material impact on either party.
CA has been revamping to become more of a cloud computing player.
