Cell phones in flight--please, no

Qualcomm and American Airlines showed off a wireless phone service at 30,000 feet using CDMA technology. An executive from American Airline predicted that federal restrictions on airplace cell phone use could be lifted within two years. Currently, the airplane is one of the few sanctuaries to get away from the phone and having to listen to other peoples' cell phone conversations. Unlike, Amtrak, which set aside special train cars for cell phone users, I don't see airlines creating special phone sections, like the smoking sections of yesteryear.

It's noise pollution that you cannot get away from strapped to your seat unless you have some really good headphones. To that end, airlines should supply those high-quality headphones if cell phone calls are allowed during flight, and set some decibel levels to keep the screamers in line.
