  • Their portals are crap

We use to have to use them. We would complain bitterly but to no avail. That's because, as always, in corporations, those in charge know best.

The portals would be down often, they were clumsy and awkward implementations, confusing interfaces, bulky interfaces, slowwwwwww connections (when they would work, otherwise, you get the server-side error messages), you couldn't do a lot of stuff like copy and paste between areas so there were lots of re-entry, which is a pain with a 17-digit VIN. Etc, etc, etc.

Of course, when you talk to them, everything would be just great. It's the standard corporate line that you guys (the press) never seem to question or go beyond. Too many paid advertisers, I guess.

      • Unfortunately, I don't

...want to open myself up to spam and hazers and astro-turfers that want to post an opposing "point of view." My slant was that all too often the corporate line gets echoed everywhere and no one is challenging it.

Spin is everywhere and no one in the "official" media rebuffs it. That's what is great about these Talkbacks and blogs and other interactive media, you can counter the massive amounts of money that corporations spend to get their "positive" messages out. And it is always that everything is good. Even when they're raping the consumer, the laws, the country.
