Cisco is rebranding some of its existing solutions under the WebEx umbrella, strengthening the networking giant's strategies for mobile and social collaboration.

Here's a overview on the new (or at least newly-renamed) products:

  • WebEx Social: Formerly Cisco Quad, Cisco WebEx Social extends social capabilities to the devices and applications, including Microsoft Office, email, mobile apps, and browser-based video calling. Customers can also now choose how they want to socialize via on-premise (WebEx Social Server) offerings, partner-hosted (through Logicalis, ACS and Alphawest) and Cisco-hosted cloud-based solutions.
  • WebEx Telepresence: Formerly Cisco Callway, Cisco WebEx Telepresence  is managed solution that now offers audio/video support for up to 1080HD video resolution, an online customer portal, extended support for MX300/SX20 and a streamlined ordering and bill pay for customers and partners.

Cisco is aligning former Quad and Callway brands under WebEx so that the company can provide a more comprehensive and stronger portfolio of  web conferencing and instant messaging solutions. With a stronger brand name, the expanded WebEx family would make it easier for users and IT departments to pick and choose social collaboration tools from Cisco.

Running on what is being touted by Cisco as "world's second-largest public cloud for business collaboration applications," these WebEx collaboration services will also utilize Cisco's global data center footprint to deliver real-time cloud services.

The updated and rebranded WebEx Social is expected to become available worldwide in July.
