Clear Channel offering iHeartRadio developer program

By | January 10, 2012, 11:29am PST

Summary: Clear Channel opens up the airwaves of iHeartRadio to third party apps with a new developer program.

LAS VEGAS — Clear Channel is going public with iHeartRadio — to some extent.

The media conglomerate company is opening up iHeartRadio’s content and services to the public for the first time with the launch of a new developer program.

The API and affiliate resources will be put in place to enable developers to integrate iHeartRadio into their own products, websites and applications. The products available for use range from social media integration to content from iHeartRadio’s more than 800 live broadcast and digital-only stations.

Being that iHeartRadio is free for listening already with both programmed and customizable stations, Clear Channel’s service already seems poised for inclusion in other digital media apps and solutions.

The digital radio network also has a presence at CES 2012 in Las Vegas this week, most notably with integration on other products being displayed at the show such as iHome’s docking stations and Toyota’s Entune in-car mobile apps platform.
