Apple's iPad dominates tablet traffic globally, but the iPhone-Android race is much closer on the smartphone front, according to comScore data.

The big question is whether this scenario flips going forward. Without further ado, here are the rankings.

So where will Android play catch-up globally?

The iPad owns Brazil, but that's just one key emerging market. Note that India features iPad share of just 4 percent, but that could just be a connectivity issue.

Other items to note:

  • 91.9 percent of iPad traffic occurred over WiFi.
  • 47.5 percent of iPhone traffic occurred Wi-Fi.
  • iPod Touches contribute significant traffic.

  • And iOS overall is by far prominent mobile OS by now comparing all others,

    ... including Android, and meaning USA market, too -- in terms of "installed" base.<br><br>But Android OS sells currently faster than iOS -- about 25% (if taking into account not only smartphones, but all mobile devices) faster, so lets see how things will develop.

    As to India, it has to be said that the country got both iPad (of any generation) and iPhone only few month ago.

      I am surprised the iPad shows in India at all. That it's tablet web share is 8X of Android's is really puzzling IMO.

    Fascinating - Argentinia is the only country that has more Android based device traffic than iOS device traffic... I just find that interesting.

    There are a lot of countries missing on that list! In fact one of the the most populous countries on the planet is not listed there. (Selected Countries = Globally?)

  • This statistic is grossly misleading

    Wrong! The headline and the statistic upon which it is based is grossly misleading. For example, Windows 7 tablets are excluded from these stats. My tablet is a real full-power PC, and I surf the web using IE9 and Firefox, which ComScore cannot differentiate from any other PC.

    Is this another Apple propaganda campaign?
