Dell said today that it will acquire Boomi, a Software-as-a-Service integration company, marking another push by the company to enhance its cloud computing offerings.

The official announcement comes just after company CEO Michael Dell suggested that the acquisition news was coming during a speaking event in Hong Kong. During that event, Dell also spoke of the tablet PC market and the debates that have come with its arrival.

Boomi touts itself as a "pure SaaS application integration platform" that allows for easy transfer of data between cloud-based and on-premise apps without the need for appliances, software or extra coding. Its offerings are already in use with some of the leading cloud apps, including Salesforce CRM.

In a statement, Bob Moul, president and CEO of Boomi, said:

The Boomi team is thrilled to be joining the Dell family. This was a fantastic outcome for the team, our customers and partners. Dell gives us the global platform to continue to scale Boomi AtomSphere as the leading integration solution in the SaaS and cloud computing industry.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
