F5 Networks is aiming to bolster its Application Delivery Networking expertise with the acquisition of Crescendo Networks‘ intellectual property assets.
Crescendo Networks, an Israel-based company currently going through liquidation, specialized in hardware solutions that addressed application delivery and load balancing. F5 already develops ADN solutions for enterprises and service providers.
Thus, with Crescendo’s old expertise, F5 will be using its new technologies for boosting its own products to better address continuing exponential growth of Internet traffic and the rising number of sophisticated security threats impacting applications.
At least some of Crescendo’s employee base will be moving into F5’s office in Tel Aviv, most notably the engineering team.
Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, and F5 insists that the purchase will not have a “material impact on F5’s quarterly financial results,” which will be announced in October.
