Facebook has a response to Google's OpenSocial APIs, which will let developers build applications that tap into multiple social networks without modification, a kind of write-once, run-anywhere scenario when the APIs are supported. Today, Facebook announced that it will license the Facebook Platform methods and tags to other platforms.

Bebo which joined the crowd of social networking sites today, following LinkedIn and Friendster this week, that aspires to become a more open platform and announced support for Facebook's methods and tags for its developers. To fully avoid the format war, Bebo will also support OpenSocial APIs early in 2008.  Hopefully, Google and Facebook will figure out a way to avoid an API and markup language war, or at least minimize the hassle to support both platforms.
