Google App integrator Cloud Sherpas raises capital

Cloud Sherpas, a large integrator of Google Apps, on Wednesday said that it has raised $1.6 million in capital as it looks to expand its practice.

The company, based in Atlanta, has raised $3 million in total. Cloud Sherpas has migrated more than 600,000 enterprise users to Google Apps.

According to the company, the Series A-1 financing was lead by Syncarpha Capital, Vento Security Holdings and Hallett Capital, an investment company owned by Cloud Sherpas CEO Jon Hallett.

On the Google Apps marketplace, Cloud Sherpas is found pretty easily. Cloud Sherpas offers a free admin tool called SherpaTools and offers migrations services for multiple verticals.

The company's sweet spot is deployments of about 2,000 seats. However, Google Apps migrations range from 75 users to 75,000. Typically, Cloud Sherpas focuses on migrations from legacy on-premise platforms.

The additional capital will be used to expand Cloud Sherpas in key verticals such as retail, healthcare and government. The company plans to maintain its focus on Google's offerings, said Michael Cohn, vice president of marketing and product management for Cloud Sherpas. Cohn added that business is accelerating for Google App deployments. 

"Cloud Sherpas will do as much business in December 2010 as we did in all of 2009, all led by sales of Google Apps in the mid-market and enterprise.  Even with renewed competition from Microsoft, we continue to see the business accelerating," said Cohn.
