Google on Thursday launched Google Site Search, a hosted custom search service that rides shot-gun with its other enterprise products--Google Search Appliance and Google Mini.
Google Site Search (statement, backgrounder, blog post) is really the rebranding of the search giant's custom search product rolled out in 2006. In a blog post, Google said its Site Search service builds on Google Customer Search.
The company is positioning Site Search as a cloud computing effort that can get businesses custom searches in about 10 minutes. Site Search features:
- More index coverage;
- Synonym additions;
- Results biasing;
- And customization.
Google Site Search will cost site owners $100 a year for 5,000 pages.
