Hey Sergey: Where's my Mac version of Chrome?

Three months after launching its Chrome Web browser, Google is taking it out of beta and releasing a full version, according to TechCrunch.

That's all fine and dandy - but where's my Mac version of Chrome? If I recall correctly, it was Google co-founder Sergey Brin who stood before the tech press at an event on the Google campus, and said that he - a proud Mac user - also was waiting anxiously for a Mac version of Chrome. Three months later, it's a full release for Windows and no update on Mac or Linux.

Larry Dignan, my blogging counterpart, and I constantly jab each other about our choices in computers. I'm a Mac. He's a PC. This morning, he directed me to the Techcrunch news about Chrome in an IM and we had the following exchange:

Larry Dignan: just thought you should know Sam Diaz: yeah, thanks

Once again, we Mac guys wait on the sidelines again. Here's the thing, though. What I've liked most about Google's push into everything on the cloud is that it levels the playing field. No longer should the minority Mac and Linux folks be stuck on the sidelines because "there's no Mac version." And yet, the irony is that the one tool we need to get on that level playing field - the browser - is the one thing that Google has released in a manner that un-levels that field again.

Open note to Sergey: I'm wondering if you're using Firefox, Safari or - gasp - IE on your Mac? Or is there some super secret alpha version of Chrome for the Mac that you've got installed? How about sharing with the rest of us? Better yet, how about an update or a timeline on the release of Chrome for the Mac?

We Mac folks will be sitting here - in our regular spots on the sideline bench - waiting patiently for a response or a release.
