HTC talks up Windows Phone, diversification
Summary: An HTC exec says affinity for Windows Phone is "very strong," and has generated "excitement" inside the company.
An HTC executive in Singapore said that Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 is generating "excitement" internally and will gain a bigger share among the company's shipments.
ZDNet Asia caught up with Melvin Chua, country manager of Singapore at HTC. The biggest takeaway was that Windows Phone 7 is seen as a big diversification move for HTC.
Chua said affinity for Windows Phone is "very strong," and has generated "excitement" inside HTC.
There's a good reason HTC is excited about Windows Phone---diversification. HTC has been a top lieutenant in Google's Android army, but it makes business sense to diversify its OS base. After all, Google acquired Motorola Mobility and it's unclear where other players in the Android army will wind up in the long run.
Given that backdrop, it only makes sense that HTC is jazzed about Windows Phone. Chua noted that "Windows Phone 7 will eventually be better than other platforms and will give Android a run for its money"

Windows Phone 7 more likely to be sued by Toys r Us or Early Learning Centre with that Mickey Mouse interface.

Micky Mouse interface? Sounds like someone is upset that their OS choice isn't as slick and fluid. Your jealousy shows and having used Windows phone for 4 months now, I can say its rock solid and fast and now with Mango it has closed the gap on missing features. Android and iOS are nice, but they are like fighting each other while Microsoft is innovating new ideas all over their new OS. Plus I have full cloud integration into the OS, can't say so much about Android and iOS.
Yeah sure...
At that moment, Windows Phone 7 will be at its best, on the two smartphones left. It will even return to having Windows and dialog boxes. And, of course, run on the Atom 7 which would be the last attempt of Intel to beat ARM25.

HTC will become the next Nokia
HTC already makes Windows Phone 7 devices
RE: HTC talks up Windows Phone, diversification
Gee my HTC mozart must have been an illusion for all these months. With Mango, my year old phone now outperforms all the other smartphones.
But please go and get an iPhone or one of the many and varied Android phones held together with chewing gum and string ;-)
