IBM buys Curam Software, bolsters government operating software

Summary: Curam Software, based in Dublin, is used by government agencies to deliver social programs ranging from work programs, health services and social security.

IBM said Monday it has acquired Curam Software, which provides software used to deliver social programs.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

Curam Software, based in Dublin, is used by government agencies to deliver social programs ranging from work programs, health services and social security. The company offers a dashboard—via an application called social enterprise management—to track benefits and services available to citizens from government and non-profit groups.

According to Curam’s Web site its software is used to manage social assistance programs, family services, employment and disability benefits and health care programs.

IBM and Curam have partnered on projects for 13 years. IBM’s acquisition of Curam also bolsters the companies R&D center based in Dublin. The Dublin research center focuses on so-called smart city deployments.
