Infor names Charles Phillips CEO

By | October 25, 2010, 8:54am PDT

Charles Phillips, who recently left Oracle as co-president to make way for Mark Hurd, will become chief executive of Infor, which makes enterprise planning software for mid-sized companies.

In a statement, Infor said Phillips will be CEO and a member of the board. Current CEO Jim Schaper will remain chairman.

At Oracle, Phillips was on board as the company acquired a bevy of companies ranging from BEA Systems to Siebel Systems.

In many respects, Infor flies under the radar, but the company is a large enterprise applications player. Infor has more than 70,000 customers and has also acquired more than 70 companies.

Infor has a bevy of applications ranging from enterprise resource planning to customer relationship management to financial and human resource management software.

Phillips task will be to successfully ship Infor’s next generation of applications in January and then sell the suite to customers. Infor is privately held, but the addition of Phillips could point to an initial public offering so the company can continue to grow via acquisition.
