Lexmark has stepped up with a new mobile printing solution to add to the growing number of applications for the Cisco Cius.

The product name, Lexmark’s Mobile Print Solution, is to the point and hopefully operating the app will be for users as well.

Basically, this enterprise-class application is designed for simple printing directly from the Cius tablet to printers on the company's network without the need for any additional configuration, IP addresses and/or servers.

Furthermore, although being that this is a Lexmark-produced app, the Mobile Print Solution should still respond to work with printers made by other manufacturers so long as the files are in standard formats (i.e. PDF, JPEG, etc.) As Lexmark reps dubbed it, the solution is "output device agnostic."

To find printers, users of this mobile app have three options: Type in the name of the printer, conduct an automated search or scan the printer's corresponding QR code.

Considering that the Cisco Cius is based on Android 2.2, it makes sense that Lexmark’s Mobile Print Solution will also be compatible with Android-based mobile devices (basically any that can handle PDFs) when it is released this fall. A price point hasn't been revealed yet but it will be determined by Cisco.

(Note: The screenshots above represent the Mobile Print Solution as it would be presented on an Android smartphone, not on the Cisco Cius.)
