Miller: MySpace not for sale; Site relaunch coming soon - again

By | July 8, 2010, 2:15am PDT

Summary: News Corp. Digital Chief says MySpace not for sale and that a new site relaunch is on the way

In case anyone was wondering, MySpace is still not for sale.

And News Corp. digital chief Jonathan Miller says that any reports that say the contrary are “fabrications,” according to a Reuters report.

In fact, a relaunch of the social networking site is in the works for later this year, he said from the Allen & Co. media conference in Sun Valley. It’s not the first time we’ve heard about a makeover for the site, which was once considered the leading social networking site but has since seen its crown taken away by Facebook.

Under last year’s leadership of Owen Van Natta, formerly of Facebook fame, the site was supposed to relaunch as a music and entertainment hub.

But, in February, Van Natta stepped down as CEO of the site and Jason Hirschhorn, who was named co-president along with Mike Jones when Van Natta stepped down, left the company last month.

Miller didn’t offer any hints about a theme for this next relaunch.

It is really stimulating do the job wholesale jerseys you have penned for us. Many people have got to understand that these elements can manifest to everyone. You could have unveiled to me a greater outlook now.
@thehype It's like Friendster, Bebo, and Classmates
@Mwendo Sorry apparently my sarcasm doesn't translate over very well on the web. I was alluding that myspace is becoming increasingly irrelevant in the era of Facebook.
That would be nice if they could enhance Myspace Music features, I hope the free music streams will be still available ...
They could still turn this thing around. Make myspace totally private and totally secure. And then tell everyone they're the private version of facebook. Hell, most people still have a myspace profile. They could pull it off with a couple billion in marketing dollars.

But why bother?
@erikswanson

OK so then how does myspace make money if they can't target ads? There is a solution and make it a paid for subscription site. I think people would pay a few bucks each month to have a social web and their privacy.

myspace is dumb

myspace is just a worthless piece of crap apple. my site is way better. and let me tell you facebook isnt much greater than this myspace music infestation of a site ithats just poluting to world not to mention, the social scene on the internet. let me tell you this, myspace, going private like one of the coommenters above stated, WOULD be incredibly dumb on there move. not to mention the amount of people that would quit myspace. I hate myspace because of soley one thing, and thats the ability to comunicate. its an aweful uncool thing because well let me tell you this, it has no drive. its all hype about the music and the lame pictures. im pretty sure 2 years from now, people will alll have forgotten about myspace pretty much and noone will be using it. not to mention they wont be using anything liek it. i think everyone will be using my site.

@emopoops wow... just wow.... your alias really says it all dosnt it? at least give us some coherent intelligent responses.
For Example: I believe myspace will die because of the wonderful way facebook has created an appverse.
^ which is my belief fyi
What is your site? You left no link or name.
WoW this could be as big as the grand re-opening of AOL.....
