Sound bites from Sun CEO Scott McNealy:

"We want IBM to start donating its own intellectual property to the community. You need a little more than that hammer and chisel. Get the bulldozers out, Sam [IBM CEO Sam Palmisano]. Stop writing open letters to the No. 1 contributor in the open-source community."

"I believe they [IBM] have Java envy, and they wish they were the steward, and they wish they had invented it. I think they'd love to wrest control...away."

"Just in the first quarter there were losses of $300 billion for worms and Trojan viruses. We call them worms and Trojans, but they're Microsoft viruses. If you write proper Java applications, we have solved Ebola, anthrax and mad cow."

Somewhat entertaining banter, and not wholly inaccurate statements. David Berlind has long been chronicling IBM's attempts to get Java out of Sun's hands, and Microsoft software is still a train wreck when it comes to security, despite yeoman efforts by Gates and company to fix it.
