The iPhone is becoming the latest check-off item for developers of business applicaitons. NetSuite plans to launch SuitePhone, a version of its on demand, integrated business applications suite for the iPhone. With Safari on the iPhone, users can access their NetSuite dashboards and get up to date information, for example.

Zimbra plans to bring its collaborative suite to the iPhone with a mobile client designed for the iPhone's display and user interface. Dubbed iZimbra, the client will support address book, e-mail and calendar functions without needing iSync or Outlook connectors. The first version of the iPhone "skin" will ship with Zimbra 5.0, which is due in August, and will be bundled with the open source and commercial versions.

Zimbra also announced this week Zimbra Archiving & Discovery as an add-on to the Zimbra Collaborative Suite for companies that need to deal with regulatory email archiving, regulatory compliance and legal discovery.

In a similar vein, Google acquired Postini this week to provide encryption, policy enforcement and archiving for securing email and instant messaging of Google Apps.
