AT&T’s server overload from iPhone pre-orders, a new Office 10 ad campaign and improvements to Twitter are among today’s top headlines. RSS, or email.

Here’s a look at Wednesday June 16, 2010:

Could an AT&T server overload slow down iPhone 4 pre-orders? Well, maybe for a few hours, but not really. Still, AT&T opened the door once again to criticism of its ability to handle network issues and gave bloggers the go-ahead to once again beat up on Apple for sticking with the one carrier only.

Let’s hope Jerry Seinfeld is busy. Office 10 went on sale this week and, to mark the occasion, Microsoft is launching an $80 million ad campaign. The “Make it Great” campaign is focused on “real people” who were among the 9 million beta testers. (Office 10 photo gallery)

Things sometimes have to get worse before they get better. That’s the case at Twitter, where some major improvements to fix stability led to unexpected outages and - truth be told - more of them to come.

Forget Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday. Apple’s got one of its own in the form of an update to Mac OS X 10.6.4 and it comes with 28 security vulnerability updates.

IBM enters the Web Analytics game with its announced acquisition of Coremetrics, which has a software portfolio that includes Web and mobile analytics, targeted email and advertising tracking and other reporting and benchmark tools.
