Nintendo has already announced plans to unveil the next generation of the Wii console on June 7, but it also has something in store for 3DS owners.
What’s in store is actually a new business: the 3DS eShop. Set to launch during the E3 2011 expo in Los Angeles, the virtual doors (thanks to a firmware update) will open to allow 3DS owners to buy gaming titles directly to the handheld gaming console’s SD/SDHC card.
Additionally, the official launch date is June 7 in Japan, and it will be available in the United States simultaneously on June 6. An Internet browser is also expected to be included in the firmware update, but there are hopes that the awaited Netflix app will also make an appearance. After all, Nintendo reps already have promised that feature for a summer release.
