Is the Federal Trade Commission getting an extreme makeover? Perhaps the FTC should be called the FSC -- The Federal Spyware/Spam Commission. The FTC has been grabbing spyware and anti-spam headlines as of late in its pursuit of spammers and spyammers. In today's news, the FTC has filed a civil suit in New Hampshire against the now-infamous spam king Sanford Wallace a.k.a "Spamford Wallace" for being a spyammer (and a nasty one at that). Saying "We don't think that we're involved in anything illegal," Wallace has proclaimed his innocence. Meanwhile, the FTC has a list of allegations that prove abuse, deception, and what basically amounts to trespassing. Now, the only question is, will the "book" get thrown at Wallace so as to send a message to other spammers and spyammers out there? Or, will he get a slap on the wrist the way spammer William Carson just did?
