Oracle on Wednesday said it will add an analytics extension to its 11g database.

The company said its Oracle Advanced Analytics is an option that bundles Oracle R Enterprise with Oracle Data Mining. Oracle R Enterprise uses the R statistical programming language. Oracle Data Mining has been merged into the Advanced Analytics module.

Oracle’s game is to couple its Advanced Analytics module with its Big Data Appliance and Exadata Database machine to target a hot market. The Exadata Database appliance uses Oracle Database 11g and the Big Data Appliances uses Cloudera’s Hadoop.

According to Oracle, Advanced Analytics brings algorithms to 11g and Exadata to predict churn rates, product recommendations and fraud tracking. The combination of R Enterprise is designed to crunch billion row data sets.
