Oracle OpenWorld, Ellison's distro, AMD/Dell, IBM/Amazon and more..

This week on the Dan & David Show, the discussion centers around Oracle's OpenWorld conference, attended by more than 40,000 adherent. The big bombshell was Oracle's support offering for Red Hat Linux. Other than than announcement, Oracle's event was relatively tame, with an update on the Fusion Project and keynotes from industry leaders, including HP CEO Mark Hurd who came out of hiding.

We also talk about whether Vista will have any pick up in enterprises out of the gate, Dell shipping AMD-based servers, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer's relentless drive to win no matter how many turns of the crank it takes, whether Microsoft's Zune will stop the Apple parade and how NetSuite will make out with its SuiteFlex customization platform. In addition, David scolds IBM about suing Amazon for alleged patent violations, such as presenting advertising in an interactive service, adjusting hypertext links with weighted user goals and activities and ordering items using an electronic catalogue.
