Summary: Oracle’s TimesTen In-Memory Database 11g Release 2 comes rivals like SAP are touting their in-memory capabilities.

Oracle on Thursday rolled out the latest release of its TimesTen In-Memory Database.

The release—officially Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database 11g Release 2—comes as various rivals are touting their in-memory capabilities. Notably SAP is looking to nudge out Oracle’s databases with its HANA in-memory analytics tools.

Not surprisingly, Oracle’s latest TimesTen release will now hook up to its Exalytics hardware line. The company touted its Oracle Exalytics In-Memory machine and noted how it will carry the latest TimesTen release.

Among the key points:

  • The latest TimesTen release includes performance improvements for online transaction processing apps and support for real-time analytics.
  • Better integration and data synchronization with Oracle Database 11g as well as new data access interfaces.
  • Native large object support.
