Oracle President Safra Catz will also take on the chief financial officer duties, the company said Monday. The move follows the resignation of current Oracle CFO Jeff Epstein.
Epstein had reported to Catz. Oracle added that Catz will become CFO effective immediately.
CEO Larry Ellison said Catz was a natural choice to be CFO because she has the trust of employees, the board and shareholders. Catz's appointment is permanent.
Catz had been CFO from 2005 to 2008. She was also president at the time.
Oracle's Catz has been among the company's leaders as others have come and gone. First, Catz was co-president with Charles Phillips, who is now CEO of Infor. Then Catz was a president as former HP CEO Mark Hurd joined Oracle. Now Oracle has a three-headed leadership team: Ellison, Catz and Hurd.
