Salesforce.com said Tuesday that it will launch a data center in Tokyo as it moves to support a growing customer base in Japan.
In a statement, Salesforce.com said that it will work with NTT Communications to build a datacenter. The facility is expected to be completed in 2011.
The Salesforce.com-NTT news comes as Salesforce kicks off its Cloudforce Japan conference.
For Salesforce.com, the deal with NTT will speed up its cloud computing services for customers in Japan and Asia Pacific. Salesforce.com has landed a bevy of key accounts in Japan and counts Canon, Fujitsu and Japan Post as customers.
For the six months ended July 31, Asia Pacific sales accounted for 14 percent of Salesforce.com's revenue, up from 11 percent for the same period a year earlier.
