Research in Motion is taking a lot of hits lately, and here’s another little jab: Seesmic, which is best known for its third-party Twitter desktop and mobile clients.

Here’s the official statement direct from Seesmic’s blog:

Effective June 30th, Seesmic will discontinue support for Blackberry in order to focus development efforts on our most popular mobile platforms: Android, iOS and Windows Phone 7.

We encourage those effected by this change to try out Seesmic for Android, iOS and Windows Phone 7, as well as Seesmic Desktop and Web.

Wow, talk about a burn to RIM and its BlackBerry. It would have been more clever if they could have narrowed that down to 140 characters, but it’s to the point nonetheless. Obviously, Seesmic doesn’t see the Blackberry platform as a “popular” mobile OS anymore, and let’s be honest, not many other companies do either these days.

Besides lower-than-expected earnings revealed during its quarterly conference call last week, RIM has already announced that it will be conducting layoffs soon. Additionally, the mobile device maker lost another top marketing executive, which led in part to a drop off in shares by seven percent on Monday.

It’s already gotten to the point where RIM is reportedly bullying carriers to pick up its upcoming line of BlackBerry smartphones, headlined by the Bold 9900, despite a number of bugs that are supposedly plaguing the devices. If that is true, then RIM must be more desperate than we thought.
