Skype said Thursday that it has acquired Qik, which allows folks to stream video via mobile devices.

The deal is expected to close this month, said Skype CEO Tony Bates in a blog post. In a statement, Skype noted that the plan was to buy Qik and combine technologies for new products.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but Silicon Alley Insider put the deal at about $100 million, or $150 million with the earnout.

With the move Skype gets Qik's 60 employees, access to various smartphone platforms and the company's Smart Streaming technology, which optimizes video over wireless networks.

Skype CEO Tony Bates announced the acquisition from the Consumer Electronics Show.
