A tipster from pinstack.com pointed me to coverage of what appears to be a very cool Mobile TV solution from SonaMobile that, when implemented by a partnership between Canada.com and Rogers Wireless (with the help I'm guessing of  of CanWest Global Communications Corp.), results in a service called bbTV (aka "BlackBerry TV").  The coverage (in pinstack.com's message forums) has quite a few pictures of the interface in action, working on model 8700 and 7130 Blackberries. According to the post on pinstack.com:

With bbTV, you can be in the know, on the go with the latest headline news and information from Canada's leading national TV network, Global National. bbTV allows you to select daily updated news coverage with your choice of 30, 60 and 90 second TV clips of International, Canadian, Finance and Sports news.

Downloaded video on a Blackberry? I wonder if anything like this is available for the US. This news comes just days after surreptitiously obtained photos of RIM's first camera-phone and multimedia-enabled BlackBerry hit the Web.  Now, the question is, with RIM providing video playback software in its BlackBerries, will third-party software like SonaMobile's be necessary.
