Target to offer Facebook Credits gift cards

By | September 1, 2010, 6:08am PDT

Summary: Target is betting that Facebook Credits gift cards will be a holiday stocking stuffer. Will Facebook gift cards sell?

Facebook Credits will get a big brick-and-mortar boost courtesy of Target.

The retailer said Wednesday that it will offer Facebook Credits gift cards beginning Sept. 5. Facebook Credits is a system that allows users of the social network to buy digital goods, games and apps. Facebook sells digital goods to enhance game play.

Since Facebook isn’t publicly traded yet we may never know if these gift cards become a hot holiday seller. The sales may not be material enough for Target to mention.

In any case, Target is betting that Facebook Credits gift cards will be a holiday stocking stuffer. The Facebook Credits gift cards will be available in $15, $25 and $50 increments.
