This week on The Dan & David Show, we discuss the Bill Gates transitioning out of full-time role at his company. The news came while we were recording the show, so David and I offer our first take. As I posit in my recent post, the transition has been in the works for a while--this is just the formal announcement. David also offers his first hands-on take on the Windows Mobile-based Motorola Q handheld, and we debate the merits of HP's new 17-inch blade system. We discuss AMD's focus on low power and how the entire industry needs some kind of benchmarks to measure multiple dimensions, such as performance per watt and thermal requirements, of server systems.  We also have a bit on Google browser synch,  David's  broken ThinkPad and

    Can't you guys figure out how to get the links right?

    I just tried to go to this article, and got the Gates article instead.

  • Wiki better than Word

    Dave mentioned Wikis is a better way to store information compared to documents.

    I would agree with this, at least for information you want to keep. Transactional information I assume is better in a document.

    Today's Wikis though, have their own languages and some have rudimnentary visual editors, but they do not adhere to any standard. You would want to have XML with some extensions for chapter numbering and multi-column text flow. Therefore, looking through over 50 Wikis, I think the docbook format is the one to choose, Freeware is available. However, there is no Wiki using this format, though Moinmoin can display it. SO I gues the answer is to hand code doc books for now, or copy and paste from one of the freewares...
