Steve Jobs unveiled the phoneless iPhone, an iPod with all the goodness that debuted in the iPhone. Dubbed the iPod touch, the device is 8mm wide and has the 3.5-inch widescreen display, and Wi-Fi, which will allow users to buy iTunes music wireless.

Jobs also announced a deal with Starbucks. When you enter a Starbucks with your iPod touch or iPhone, a Starbucks button pops up that gives you the option to buy music from the featured artist via the wireless connectivity.

The batter offers 22 hours of audio playback or 5 hours of video playback.

The iPod touch will be available this month in two configurations-- an 8GB model for $299, and a 16GB for $399.

See Engadget, Gizmodo, CrunchGear and news.com for the play-by-play of the announcement.

  • No Bluetooth? What's the point?

This has been a serious flaw in the iPod for many years. They took out the phone but couldn't leave the Bluetooth?

C'mon, Apple, get with the program: Stereo Bluetooth iPod. How hard is it to figure this out? Especially with that new crappy headphone jack that requires an adapter. Drop the wire altogether.

Oh, that's right...the iPhone doesn't do stereo Bluetooth, either. Again, what's the point?
