Must read: I referenced Jon Udell's interview with Bill Gates here, but didn't get to listen the entire interview. I finished my encounter with Gates and Udell via a transcript of the interview on Jon's blog. It really shows the geeky Gates, and is one of the better interviews I have read/heard in covering Gates for more than two decades. I'm waiting now for Jon and others to more deeply parse what Gates was saying about the CLR, RSS, XML, XAML, LINQ, REST, POX, SIP, XMPP, WPF/E, LUA, XSLT and a few other acronyms, and whether Microsoft has its act together as much as Gates implied.
At the end of the interview Gates says in plain English: "I was saying to Jim [Allchin] last night, convincing people that Vista be accepted by IT was not a big message we were trying to say here. We just take that for granted." We'll see. Based on what my partner David Berlind is saying on his Microsoft Vistulations blog and on our podcast show, there are several reasons for IT managers to like Vista.
