The terse advisory doesn't indicate what those strategies will be, but that's what the Boy Genius Report is for. And the blog reports that Verizon will be changing prices for its wireless plans. Add up the Boy Genius Report with the fact that the wireless unit is going to announce something that’s going to affect Verizon’s financial results (CFOs don’t show up to talk handsets) and you have two connecting dots.

Here's a brief recap from the slides Boy Genius Report posted:

  • Verizon Wireless is cutting the price of unlimited plans by 30%;
  • Verizon Wireless' unlimited voice plan will be $69.99 with a voice and messaging option at $89.99;
  • The new unlimited pricing is aimed squarely at AT&T;
  • Verizon is rolling out a $29.99 unlimited data plan with a $9.99 option for 25 MB and a pay as you go plan for $1.99 per MB;
  • Single line plans are going from 16 pricing options to 6;
  • Family plans going from 24 plans to 8;
  • Prepaid plans will mirror postpaid plans.

Some customers may make out with these plans, but it does appear a few folks will have to buy data plans. Overall, Verizon appears to be working to squeeze its rivals.

    Not sure what this means for me, guess I'll have to look at the plans when they are released and see if it changes my bill any.
