Microsoft is just another also ran, way behind the competition. With Windows 7, the costs skyrocket, and it is hard to get the battery life, size and weight that you want. All of those Win32 applications are really not appropriate on a tablet anyway - even if you could shoehorn in a more tablet appropriate interface over the top of Windows 7.

Funny to watch them squirm.

DonnieBoy, if you looked for facts, instead of making them up, maybe you'd be taken seriouslly.

I think you're scared: Android tablets on the market noware going nowehere, yet everyone keeps talking Windows tablet.

I admit that it's a riot to watch you squirm DB, but I do tend to feel sorry for you, sometimes. wink
with RAM integrated in the same package was brilliant, and allowed them to hit very good price points for a tablet, BUT WITH UNBELIEVABLE MARGINS LIKE APPLE LIKES TO SEE.

But, back to Microsoft's dilemma. If they go with Windows 7, tablets are more expensive, thicker, heavier, hotter, and there are not any Win32 applications appropriate for tablets anyway.

If they go with Windows Phone 7 tablets, they are way behind Apple and Google. There is nothing that MS can do with Windows Phone 7 that Apple and Google have not already done, and they will have a huge disadvantage on available applications.

You sure? The only tablet I am going to buy: it must run win32 applications.
BTW, PDA used to have compact .net framework -- means you can develop applications using visual studio, basically the same development environment to develop other applications these days.
All of those Win32 applications have to be re-written to be appropriate for a tablet. But, in any case, Win32 is dying, as evidenced by the sales of the iPad. This is the most successful electronics gadget of all time. Given that it will NOT run Windows applications, that is VERY telling.
hardware from Intel coming next year to rescue him and get him out of the dilemma. The problem with that is, Arm will be even better next year, and Apple will be able to one-up Microsoft again, holding the 500 dollar price line, and maybe even hitting 15 or 20 hours battery life with even better performance.
@DonnieBoy What do you need 20 hours of battery life for when the device can't do anything that matters?

Sometimes some people actually have to get some work done. That's just not possible with any iDevice.

@drphysx
I get a lot of work done on my iPhone 3G. Of course that work is usually communicating with my customer base via email, but it is certainly work.
@DonnieBoy Win8 will run on ARM. Until then, its either WP7 on ARM (or) Win7 on x86.
necessary. Microsoft is way behind, and putting Win32 on a tablet at the expense of hotter, heavier, thicker, more expensive is a non-starter.
@DonnieBoy There have never been affordable Win32 tablets on the market.

How can a market 'have spoken' that has never even existed?

Get a clue.
what to do. They have no response, and are madly marking all of my posts as spam!!
