VMware CFO jumps to Workday

Summary: Mark Peek will leave as CFO of VMware and take the same role at Workday.


Workday has hired Mark Peek as its chief financial officer. Peek is currently the CFO at VMware.

According to VMware, Peek will stick around until June 1 and then leave for Workday, which is expected to go public in 2012. For its part, VMware said its first quarter results will meet or "slightly exceed" estimates. Wall Street is looking for earnings of 59 cents a share on revenue of $1.028 billion.

VMware said that it will begin a search for a new CFO.

The virtualization giant also said it was shuffling its executive ranks a bit. Carl Eschenbach is now VMware's chief operating officer and co-president. Eschenbach had been VMware's co-president of customer operations.

Raghu Raghuram will also be executive vice president of cloud infrastructure and management at VMware. He had been a general manager and senior vice president at VMware.
