Welcome Ryan Naraine

I'm pleased to announce Ryan Naraine has joined ZDNet to head up a new security blog called Zero Day. The plan about 16 hours ago was to launch his blog quietly, let him get up to speed and then announce it to the network.

The plan about 16 hours ago was to launch his blog quietly, let him get up to speed and then announce it to the network.

Safe to say he's up to speed:

A fifth MS Word zero-day?

Oracle DB rootkit for sale in exploit pack.

Hacker finds chink in Microsoft’s anti-piracy armor.

I'm very familiar with Ryan's work since our time overlapped at eWeek and I had the pleasure of editing a lot of his big stories. He's a tireless reporter who has the ability to deliver insider security news and zoom out to look at the big picture. Some of his best work was zooming out to look at topics such as the Windows monoculture and botnet scourge.

Our goal is clear: Become a leading security destination. With Ryan joining the network, the CNET security news team and George Ou, who reported on how Vista's Speech Command exposes a remote exploit and Layer 2 security we have a strong team in place.

Also stay tuned next week for coverage from the RSA conference. Both Ryan and George will be on the scene covering it live.

Thanks for reading.
