We're giving away a tablet; here's how to win

Summary: ZDNet's 20th anniversary: Our yearlong celebration is coming to an end. To go out with a bang, we're giving away a tablet computer. Starting tonight!

SHARE:

2011 is nearly over, and so, therefore, is ZDNet's yearlong 20th anniversary celebration.

(What 20th anniversary? This one. Yeah, we're older than the World Wide Web. We know. What gray pixels?)

Back in April, we promised that we'd give some stuff away to show our appreciation. And we did! Twelve lucky readers walked away with seriously sweet Timbuk2 commuter bags, customized with our red diamond logo.

That was fun, but it's time to up the ante.

Starting tonight at midnight Eastern, we're giving away a tablet computer. (Which one? Our legal department won't let us say, but it's the kind you'd want to put in a lot of face time with. Know what I mean?)

Here's what to do:

  • Visit the contest entry page and read the official rules.
  • Register with us to enter, beginning at 12:00 a.m. ET (9:00 p.m. PT).
  • Sit tight for two weeks. (The contest ends Fri. Dec. 9.)
  • Or, enter again! (You can enter once each day.)
  • The week of Dec. 12, we'll pick one winner in a random drawing.
  • Once we verify the winner, we'll post an announcement here on Between the Lines.

We're pretty excited to give away such a great product. What would we do without such great readers like you?

Remember: tonight at midnight Eastern. Go forth!

Topics: Laptops, Hardware, Mobility, Tablets

Why do Websites rarely make worldwide contests?

@rafaelluik because there are laws concerning sweepstakes in pretty much every jurisdiction. The american based ziff davis folks have lawyers who know american law. The Brazilian sweepstakes laws are different, and the cost to make sure their contest comports with the laws of other countries makes it un-economical for them to hold world wide contests.

Why bother following the law? Because if they don't, they could be found to be operating an illegal gambling site.

      • This is true.

        @awkward hug Although we're not Ziff-Davis, we're CBS Interactive!

      @A Grain of Salt
Why? you already have all our manufacturing jobs. It seems to me your more then compensated. I'm not going to sign up for the prizes because i don't want spam from every partner they have under the sun. Its just not worth it.
Oh you want our socal security too? its a big world out there why not share that too?

They don't even let Canadians enter. And half your staff are Canadians.

Would have thought to enter, but then I figured out that it was going to be an iPad. I thought it might have been a better tablet. A PlayBook for example.

    Oh well...

  • yanks there is only one country

    • RE: We're giving away a tablet; here's how to win

@pblakez: No, but reading "is is" is pretty funny. Do you stutter when you speak, as well?

Do you understand what the meaning of "is" is? Do you understand that repeating it twice in succession alters the single usage implications dramatically?

Yeah, I'm tired & bored, so what?

  • *whew* It's a fruit-pad.

Already got one (it was given to me) and I have no use for the one I have - don't need another - and I'm not in the US anyway.

I'll wait for my Transformer Prime to show up next week (because weirdly - we get Asus and Acer products *before* the US does... :)

  • A biz opp for some enterprising Yank!

Why doesn't someone set up a site offering us "foreigners" a US address so we can enter these competitions etc.
    jhnhth@...
    • Because this is the United States there is probably some federal law

      prohibiting it.
