Win another custom Timbuk2 laptop bag from ZDNet

By | June 22, 2011, 5:19am PDT

Summary: ZDNet’s 20th anniversary: We’re giving away another pair of custom Timbuk2 laptop bags this week. Comment to win!

UPDATE 2: The contest is now closed. Congratulations to kevin and Brent2001! (Don’t forget to check Between the Lines this Wednesday for the next question and another chance to win one of two free bags!)

Last week, we gave away our first pair of custom ZDNet-branded Timbuk2 Commute 2.0 laptop bags in honor of our 20th anniversary.

This week, we’re doing it again. Get excited!

(For those counting at home, this is week No. 2 of six total weeks of ZDNet-laptop-bag-giveaway fun.)

The bags are sized medium and are black with a gray stripe down the middle, like the photo above. They’re TSA compliant and, in a special limited edition twist, customized with ZDNet’s iconic red diamond logo.

You can’t get them anywhere else. Period.

(Why Timbuk2? As we said last week: like us, they’re based in San Francisco. Like us, they’re in their early twenties. And like us, they’re rugged as hell and perfect for tech.)

What you need to do to win*:

  1. Check the site Wednesday morning for a post about the contest. If you’re reading this, you’re already here. The second round begins right now, in this blog post.
  2. Respond to the question below by leaving a comment in the TalkBack section below the post. (Don’t delay: the contest is open for 48 hours, and ends tomorrow at 11:59 ET. Standard ZDNet contest rules apply; see below for details.)
  3. That’s it! We’ll pick winners based on the responses we deem most creative, funny or interesting.

We’ll announce the winners (pending verification) the following Monday.

THIS WEEK’S QUESTION: What would you stuff in your new laptop bag? And…go!

Good luck!

RE: Win another custom Timbuk2 laptop bag from ZDNet

This one looks nice, it is sad though that this contest is already closed. Even if this one is closed, here are great things I would like to share apartments for rent , Rothesay real estate and St. Albert real estate.
My old Win ME laptop, power cord and a digital camera.

My laptop,my papers and all the stuff hanging on my back happy
That would hold my netbook and power cord with lots of room for a water bottle and a book.
What would I put in my laptop bag? Is it irony if I say a laptop?

Posted from my iPad...
I want to get rid of these standard boring office laptop bags! Please HEEEEELP
Everything but a laptop:

My iPhone4, ASUS Transformer and keyboard dock, delicious snacks, the Interwebz (my MiFi), a magazine for all my gadgets to point and laugh at, some type of office warfare device of mass destruction, cookies cause I love cookies and they are beyond the rank of delicious snacks, some super soft toilet paper because the toilet paper at my office is not so nice on the bum-bum, and my car keys, because they always stab my leg if they are in my pocket.
I would stuff it with my CR-48 and it's power cord, my camera and a few extra batteries, a couple SD cards, my Olympus digital voice recorder, and a picture of my lovely wife.
My iPad, an iPad charger, a sketchbook, a box of pens and a flashdrive.
I'd stuff it with my Asus K20 Notebook, it's mouse and charge cord, my iPod Touch, cell phone, Nikon Coolpix camera with it's accessories, and of course, pen and papers. happy
For my daily commute: netbook w/power cables, 2 cell phones, wallet, checkbook, e-reader, newspaper, 2 eyeglass cases (suglasses and read/distance, depending on what I am wearing), lots of kleenex (for allergies), hand sanitizer, water bottle, umbrella, altoids

I would start with best intentions, with only my laptop, PSU, USB backup drive, essential live CD/DVDs, basic toolkit, and IDE/SATA USB adapter, phone charger and basic cables (RJ45, USB/minUSB/microUSB), headphones, USB rubber keyboard and travel mouse, couple of business cards.

By the end of the week (going on current contents), there would also be my entire IT CD/DVD collection, a folder full of hand drawn notes, 20 various other "useful looking" cables, probably a second PSU and backup USB drive, various other tools now missing from my main kit, a bunch of networking sundries (keystone jacks, DSL filters, Cat6 jacks), maybe a lighter, half a pack of cigarettes if I've been weak, 2 neoprene beer "coozies", some unopened melted chocolate bars, a bunch of RCA/Phone cables and adapters, an IPV6 subnetting card, some VGA/DVI adapters, a swiss armyknife, 2 empty sunglasses pouches and several receipts for travel tickets... The outside of my bag looks pregnant.
My lunch (2 soft flour tortillas, meat prepared with Old El Paso seasoning, shredded CoJack cheese, lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream and to top it all, a lot of El Tapatio hot sauce! Yum! Dang, now I'm hungry). And my piece of junk Samsung Transform...

HP laptop, iPhone 4 (personal), Blackberry Bold (work), chargers, magazines and a datebook. That should leave room for the kids in the front panel, the dog in the back, and I'll hang the Mrs. from the strap like a dreamcatcher.

Everything in my current book bag. It would become my new man purse + laptop.
A contest for a bag given free,
if won, in it we'll see,
a laptop, of course, and some books,
real ones, not stored on a Nook,
on a back, on a bike, brought with me.

So many things. Let's see my rooted Nookcolor, my LG revolution & home charger. A few energy drinks AMP or Brawl, magazines since most of them still aren't online yet. Comic books my Heroclix figures snacks just in case and if need be my old laptop running Linux..
Things that float.... some really small rocks, apples, lead, and a duck. Also a newt for good measure.
All my potent portables. iPad 2, Galaxy Tab, Samsung 4G hotspot, notebook and a host of chargers.
I would carry my combination 8-track tape player/AM Radio, some 8-track tapes (of course), and some scooby snacks.
Whatever I stuff in my laptop bag, when I get to the job site I need something else that I forgot!

Cables, adapters, driver disks, batteries... (sigh)

happy
Right now it would be my phone, notepad, some bills, lunch, and of course Monster. Hopefully soon it will be an ereader and laptop. Also some meds, spices since nothing is spicy enough and lotion (for whatever it is needed for :-))
Both my iPad and my ASUS i7 Laptop, so when someone walks by and goes "Oh, you're a Mac guy" I can whip it out with a BAM and say "No, I'm a Tech Guy".

I don't care if you're Apple, MS, or a Linux fan, if it rocks, I'll use it.
My Lego Millennium Falcon is probably too big, so let's go with My Lenovo T420s and Amazon Kindle 3. I like to travel light.
iPad, coffee mug, and any products I am testing for the school district during the week...and a laptop for the weekend on Fridays. Thanks for the offer!
My 64GB 3G iPad 2 and my quad-core Dell M6400.
I would place all the gear I've won from ZDNet over the years...
All the essentials for surviving a typical meeting: snacks, tasty beverages, a phone set to ring in the middle of a meeting - emergency support call, gotta go!
oh yeah, some kind of computer related stuff to make it look official. wink
I would point out to my wife that it is great, but it is empty. It needs to be filled with a tablet and other gadgets. She would promptly say "keep dreaming", at which point I would put the laptop in the bag. A couple of weeks later, I would find the bag filled with her Kindle, a couple of her books, and probably the camera. She will then think the bag is awesome, a great win, and life will go on.
My HP Probook, of course would be stuffed in there, plus its accessories and a couple Oat&Honey bars for that mid morning snack. Pens and any legal or work related documents I need to courier for the day. Also some pain reliever as with most that work in IT, the occasional headache will crop up.
Laptop and papers for work, usb cords, chargers, yellow pad for brain storming, DVDs kid's stuff (dvd player and books), water bottle, power snacks and anything else that I can cram in there.

tim bits and 2 bucks for my timbuk2 bag in the front pocket. I broke my iphone so Hi Phone is the cheapest I could , thts going in. granola bars, some candies and my portable keyboard, mice, mouse, hamster, monitor LED, projector, power cord, How to fill Timbuk2 bag for dummies what am i missing ... oh ya and my ultra powerful/ awesome/legend ... wait for it ... netbookary ... man that's a lot of stuff. I hope my timbuck2 can hold the mass to currect BMI(Bag Mass Index) else i might remove my 2 bucks just to be precise....
Sweet! ... lets see, one laptop (who even places them in the lap any more??), power supply (what ever happened to sonar powered batteries???), trusted pen + paper, camera, and wires galore (I guess bluetooth never quite took off, where is my wireless USB PAN??)...
I would also put in my friends Timmy and Buck. It is a little known fact that Buk is the Afrikaans spelling of Buck, where he was born.
Plenty of room for a laptop, cables, magazines and a snack.
my kindle, my Toshaiba netbook (tablet with a keyboard ), Galaxy S Android phone and Igo charger w/tips...

(No fees recv'd for above product placement

Pack light
gnichola@... 22nd Jun
My flash drive containing bootable linux, data cable for my droid, toothbrush, and one set of clothing. Ready to ride!
My Lenovo T500, my PEN E-PL1, my iPod Touch, and that massive pile of random papers that I'm always carrying around.
My Dell 420, it's dock and all the tools I use to fix other people's computers.
I'm just not sure... The last time I put a mouse in my laptop bag, both our cats jumped in after it!
I'd stuff in my laptop, a handheld wand scanner I use with it, my little camera and my wallet. Then I am good to hit the county library's genealogy section, where I cannot bring my bag, but can bring those items - I store the bag in a locker for a returnable quarter. It would make my research trips totally awesome, because I visit different sites for these studies but invariably, it's the same pieces of equipment I need each time.
Being a Timbuk2 bag I would take advantage of its messenger / cycling history and stuff it to the max with iPhone, laptop & accessories, change of clothes, a few toiletries, and a brown bag lunch. Then hop on my bike and ride to work. Something I?ve never been able to do with the ?company issue? laptop bag.

my laptop, power source, my cell phone charger, my nintendo dsl,a note pad, pens, a thumb drive with my solitare game,my camera, extra batteries.
How cool! Being 60% paralyzed on my left side the laptop, notes and maybe a small lunch would do well on my back in a Tinbu2 laptop bag. Leaves room in my good hand for my cane...

Gotta love ZDNet!!
It would be my laptop, Ipod and Xoom with the associated accessories. Along with my business papers and necessary pens/pencils. Last, and most important, a couple pictures of my wife and son.
My Timbuk2 would hold the world as my laptop serves as an ESRI ArcGIS platform. The Birds of North America too, on my smartphone, next to the cheatsheets for best fishing knots and gosh, all of the constellations in the night sky. Is there anything my Timbuk2 wouldn't hold? I guess it wouldn't hold water, at least literally speaking.
Yarn. Srsly yarn. and Knitting needles and more yarn. I have at least 3 WIPs (works in progress) in my current bag. And enough other yarn and needles to probably do 5 more. And gum; can't forget the gum - cinnamon sugarless gum.
If I win a new bag, I would want a new laptop to put in it!

What to put in the bag...

Something I've been holding off on; I'd have to get a new laptop for case and this could be just the reason to do so...
