Yahoo is turning to big names to pose large-grained questions on Yahoo Answers. Dr. Stephen Hawking poses the question: How can the human race survive the next hundred years?" Bono asks, "What can we do to make poverty history?. Between the two, there are over 34,000 responses so far. A good way to generate usage among the Yahoo community and discuss important topics, but not easy to sort through the answers unless you have alot of time to scan thousands of replies...

  • Survival of humankind

It may be a bit too reminiscent of Star Trek, but I don't think we'll be going far from this planet unless some new (exponentially faster) methods of travel are invented and soon made universal. I am probably far from being even a novice in particle physics (I do enjoy reading books like "A Brief History of Time" & Leo Smolin's book about the evolution of universes); however, I believe the rough draft of the human genome provides part of the answer and quantum mechanics/particle physics the other. Without a more effective way to transport people to Mars or the lunar surface, we may be condemned to the deep recesses of the Earth (literally); within 50 years, cities like New Orleans will be much like the lost city of Atlantis. Not to mention the potential impact of global warfare (always a possibility).

that I don't see it happening; the second reason I don't have kids!

Unfortunately, both of those links open Bono's thread.
